Using background textures in web design is a great way to add an extra feeling of depth to your designs. The sites I have collected all feature very subtle background textures that may not be so obvious at first glance but all perfectly compliment each web design. Using subtle textures in your designs is often much better then using ‘in the face’ background images and patterns that only serve to distract the user from your website content, take a look at these subtle background textures and see how you could use them in your next design.

These are incredible examples. I’ve always been a huge fan on subtle background textures – I actually have a white carbon fiber texture, very light, but still visible on my own website. Sometimes I’m tempted to remove it, but I really don’t think its that busy enough to compete with my stock photos and other artwork on the website.
